Repair shops, contractors, interior and event firms, agencies, consultants and transporters: send a proper GST invoice with the SAC code, keep track of which client owes what, and follow up on WhatsApp. Parts and services can sit on the same bill.

The problems service businesses tell us about
Selling time and skill has its own paperwork. Here is how Billing Babu handles it.
Clients ask for a GST invoice
Business clients need your GSTIN, theirs, the SAC code and the tax shown correctly to claim credit. Billing Babu prints all of it, in a column headed HSN/SAC.
Payments come late
Work is done first and paid for later. Every unpaid invoice sits in that client's ledger with how many days it is overdue, so nothing is forgotten.
Following up is awkward
On Professional and Enterprise, send a polite WhatsApp reminder with a UPI QR code, so the client can pay from the message itself.
Parts and labour on one bill
A repair or installation job often has spare parts and a service charge. Both go on one invoice, each with its own GST rate, and the stock of the parts goes down.
How a service business bills with Billing Babu
Say you run an AC repair and servicing business. A shop calls you in for a gas refill and a new capacitor. When the job is done you open a new bill, pick the client, and add two lines: the capacitor from your item list, and the service charge as a line you type in. Give the service line its 6-digit SAC code in the HSN field and an 18% GST rate, and the bill works out CGST and SGST, or IGST if the client is in another state.
A service line you type in is not part of your product list, so no stock is kept for it. The capacitor came from your item list, so its stock goes down by one. If the client has a GSTIN, it prints on the invoice.
You share the invoice PDF on WhatsApp before you leave. The client pays half by UPI on the spot; you record the part payment and the rest shows under Dues. A week later the bill shows as overdue, and on Professional or Enterprise you send a reminder with a UPI QR code in two taps.
Your own costs, such as fuel, rent, tools and staff salaries, go into Expenses by category, so Home shows what the month actually earned.

What Billing Babu does not do yet
No recurring invoices. A monthly retainer or AMC bill has to be made each month.
No quotations, estimates or proforma invoices, and no discount field on the bill.
No time tracking, job cards or project billing.
No separate "service" item type. A saved item counts stock, so type a service as its own line rather than saving it as an item.
Getting started takes one afternoon
Install Billing Babu from Google Play or the App Store, or sign up on the website. Your account works on all three and stays in sync.
Add your business name, address and GSTIN once. Add a logo and signature so they print on every bill.
Bring your items and parties across from Excel, including opening dues, or add items as you bill.
Make a few real bills during the 14-day trial. Keep your old register or app running until you are sure.
The whole app is in English and Hindi, and anyone at the counter can switch language with one tap. Bills made without internet are saved on the phone and sync when the connection comes back.

Service business billing: common questions
Can I make a GST invoice for services with a SAC code?
Yes. Enter the 6-digit SAC code in the HSN field and set the GST rate. The invoice column is headed HSN/SAC, and CGST and SGST, or IGST, are worked out from the place of supply.
Can parts and labour go on the same bill?
Yes. Add parts from your item list, so their stock goes down, and type the service charge as its own line with its own GST rate.
Does Billing Babu make recurring invoices?
No. Recurring or subscription invoices are not available, so a monthly retainer is billed by making a new invoice each month.
How do I follow up on unpaid invoices?
Every unpaid invoice shows in that client's ledger with the days overdue. On Professional and Enterprise you can send a WhatsApp reminder with a UPI QR code.
How much does it cost?
From ₹149 a month on Basic billed yearly (₹1,788 a year), or ₹199 a month billed every 3 months. Every plan has a 14-day free trial with no credit card.
